I didn't really learn anything new except for the book library thing where you can go on there and put the books you have at home on there and keep inventory. That was pretty cool. Though the rest of it I knew. I'm not sure what would be good or bad for the library to do. I think you should try all of them and then use the ones the most often that you get the most responses on, or the more followers.

I used Skype. It is like an instant messenger like AIM or MSN, but also allows you to do video chat around the word for free. Even though AIM and MSN let you do the same thing. Skype was alright I guess I'm just not big into the instant messaging thing.

I did my wiki thing on Great Outdoors. It is a sub shop not a place to buy outdooring equipment. The name throws some people off. I think the subs are exceptional and I might have to run there after work to grab a sub :)

Hulu only provides a select few shows, and usually only have the last 5 current episodes of a tv series. That I know when I'm freaking out because I missed House one night found out Hulu doesn't get House episodes until 8 days! after the show airs on tv. I don't think the library has anything to worry about in regards to tv shows. If people are still buying tv series's off the shelf at stores then they for sure are going to come to the library and get it for free. :)

I don't really see how youtube can help promote the library. I think only librarians (no offense) would look up youtube videos on libraries. That never even popped in my head to type in the search box until I watched Super Librarian. I was thinking someone actually took time to make this, but that is just my opinion. It could help I'm not 100% sure it would be the right place to spend time trying to get pepole in the know about the Public Library.

I love pandora that is what I listen to when I have to do homework over at my grandmas and on her computer. It usually suggests perfect songs and artisit for me, or at least that I can listen to. I think people will always want a hardcopy of something, or I know I do.

Googledoc is actually very good for people who don't have microsoft word or any other paper writing program on their computer. Until this 23 things I didn't know it even existed and now I can use it on my mac :) because all the microsoft programs are expensvie. I might have to test this out on my next paper I write.

I chose the Carrolton Public Library because my grandparents used to live there and I alwayed pasted it going to and from their house. Google maps is a great thing to have especially when people like me are directionally impared.

The TinyURL thing is actually pretty cool. I wouldn't use it but it is cool.. I took this: http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireless-Reading-Display-Genera
tion/dp/B002Y27P3M/ref=sa_menu_kdp3w3/177-6468865-6364615
and made it into this: http://tinyurl.com/kindlewifi20
Which actually is pretty cool and helps save time if you are on the phone and trying to tell someone the url.
You send it is actually easier than having to upload a file attachment I'll have to keep that site in mind next time I need to send something.

Information on the Frisco Library page would be a pretty good way to start it off. You could add the days and hours we are open on. Where things might be located in the library. Maybe make posts about new books or other things that have come in or will come in. Those are some things you could add on it.
Blog (Thing Eleven Check!)
I made an account on linkedin and it was pretty cool seeing all the other people that word for the City of Frisco that had accounts as well. I don't see where I would use this in my everyday life, but it was pretty cool just to click around on the site.

Library thing is pretty cool not gonna lie. I think I would use this at home. Its just cool being able to look up your books and being able to show people what books you have. That to me is amazing, and I will totally use it.

Bookmarks are good for people to use when they find a site and don't want to quite forget it. Thats all I see bookmarks good for. I woudln't use this site but again that is me. I can see why people would use it I just wouldn't. I don't know if it would help or hurt the library. :/

I don't see how tagging could hurt or help the library. I just think it would be there. I as in me do not really pay attention to things that are tagged. I just seem to look over them. I don't think they take away from the masked the subject heading, but that is because I honestly just gloss right over it and don't pay attention to it. I probably should pay more attention to it than I do, but I just don't. Tagging could be good because you could tag stuff on the website that might take you to the catalog (like popular music and movies) and people cna put them on hold for themselves. Maybe?

IMing that used to be really big back before everyone had a cell phone. Before the dawn of texting. Anyway IMing I was never really good at. I'd get bored of the conversation really quickly and the conversation would just die, and no one would say anything to each other so you just had an open window on your computer screen. I could see how a help service IM with a libraian could help patrons. We had that at Southwestern College the college I attended last year. It helped a lot the librarians could answer many questions and I didn't have to leave the comfort of my bed while doing a paper. I was able to ask for help on fidning sorces for a paper and they helped a bunch. When I had questions they answered with efficency. It was great. I think that would be a good way to help patrons from home rather than them having to call over the phone and get instructions.

In all honesty Digg just reminds me of RSS Feeds except for the fact you get different completely different stories in the popular feed, and differences in each category. So yes I guess it could help the library the basic premise of it.. I don't know how it would make the librarians jobs easier.. I wasn't really impressed with Digg. Again that is just me. It could help get information across to patrons and people who have questions about things but thats all I can see it doing..

Twitter... I've never really been a big fan of twitter.. People who get on there all the time and just post little tid bits of infomation about what they are doing has never apealed to me. In theory this could by some strech of the imagination help the library. I honestly just don't see anybody who would follow a library on twitter.. Thats not the first thing I'd think of following, but hey thats just me. Anyway this could help if you just wanted to say in 140 characters or less that. (Twitter Example) Children Program Nov. 7th @ 10 a.m. or maybe just some sort of reminder that the library would be closed. It would be a good way to get information across but to me it just seems like a pain when you have to narrow it down to 140 characters or less.
I did in fact find a library that actually does tweet on a regular basis. Their link: https://twitter.com/#!/FalveyLibrary

Uploading photos onto flickr or anyother web site is a good way to express yourself and possibly get feedback on people who might like your photos.I uploaded photos onto flickr it wasn't to terribly difficult but it was kind of fun going through all my old photos I've taken and just picking a few to put up for this project. Using photo uploaders on the web would be cool for the library to possibly get into because then you could take pictures of events that happen at the library. Then being able to post them on the web where children or parents can see them and get an idea of what the events look like, and either how much fun they are going to have or how much fun they are not going to have. So by taking pictures and putting them up is a way to get information across by again showing what the events will include, and giving them a preview of events to come.

RSS Feeds are actually pretty cool. Being able to get updates from news sorces or various other websites that ofter that feature is pretty tight. Being able to just go in my e-mail and find out what the top stories are from CNN instead of having to open the internet browser, typing the url in and having to click around to find the top stories. It makes it quick and easy. RSS feeds could help the library by getting information out to patrons. By telling them dates and times of scheduled events such as the story telling festival, computer programs in the computer lab, and childrens programs.
Blog (Thing 2 Check!)
Blog reader is interesting. It can save time rather than having to go to different webpages and having to click and wait for things to load you could just subscribe to CNN for instance and pick from what the headlines say. You can also keep up with your friends if you choose to follow their blogs. It would help the library to help patrons find events and programs that they might want to do at the library.
